The Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) rebate for replacing a gas ducted heater with a reverse cycle system is currently paying between $3,500 and $8,000, depending on your home size, the certificate market rate, and the system you choose. The rebate is tied to Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificate (VEEC) pricing, which fluctuates with the market. We calculate your exact rebate during the free in-home assessment and give it to you in writing before you commit to anything. In most jobs we quote, the rebate covers 50–80% of the total install cost.
Most residential ducted reverse cycle installs are completed in 1 to 3 days on site, depending on the number of zones and whether we need to run new ductwork or reuse the existing gas duct routes. If we can re-use your existing ducting (often possible for gas-ducted-to-RC swaps), you're usually looking at a 1–2 day job. New ductwork or complex builds go up to 3 days. We give you exact timing during the assessment, and someone from the team is on site every day until it's tested, commissioned and clean.
Yes — and we handle it. We disconnect and decommission the gas heater, cap the gas line (or arrange for a plumber to do so under compliance), and remove the old unit from site. It's included in the quote. Under VEU rules, the old system has to be verifiably decommissioned for the rebate to apply, which is one of the reasons we run the paperwork for you — nothing gets missed.
